Cougars Meet In Malibu

MALIBU, Calif.-- In the team’s second meet of the season Azusa Pacific, the Cougars posted 10 top-5 finishes at the Malibu Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine.

“It was a good day,” said Head Coach Tim Kyle. “It was good to swim against teams of the caliber of Loyola Marymount. They really pushed us.”

LMU was one of two NCAA div. I opponents (Pepperdine being the other) at the invitational. In all there were six programs represented, including Biola and Cal Lutheran.

Quinn Robertson had one of the best finishes of the day for the Cougars, placing 2nd in the 100 free (54.65), while also clocking in at 25.11 in the 50 free; good for 5th place. Robertson also finished 12th in the 200 free (2:02.18).

Victoria Gibb, who had a strong opening meet at the PCSCs, placed in the top-5 of all of her swims. She had a time of 1:58.48 in the 200 free (2nd place), and got 4th in the 50 free (25.05) and 5th in the 100 fly (1:01.82).

Cameron Hagen had a pair of fourth place finishes with a time of 33.20 in the 50 breast, and 1:11.73 in the 100 breast, and touched 5th in the 200 breast (2:37.52).

Hannah Robb (2:16.09) and Malerie Morgan (2:16.36) got 5th and 6th respectively in the 200 back. Robb also clocked in at 1:03.97 in the 100 back (7th place), while Morgan touched 8th in the 50 breast (34.60).

Simone Garcia had three top-10 swims, placing 3rd in the 200 breast with a time of 2:31.57. Garcia also had times of 2:18.02 in the 200 IM (6th place), and 1:02.31 in the 100 fly (7th place).

The next meet for Azusa Pacific will be next Saturday when the team travels to Biola for a dual.
