MALIBU, Calif.-- The Azusa Pacific women’s swimming and diving team concluded its first team meet of the season, getting eight top-10 swims on Saturday in Malibu. Heidi Zuniga posted a pair of top-10 finishes, while Ingrid Cardenas, Brooke Miller, Rachel Allison, Anna Eckberg, Madelyn Mooers, and Erica Knudsen each tabbed top-10 times.

Zuniga placed sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.02, and took seventh in the 200 fly with a 2:14.99 mark. Cardenas swam Azusa Pacific’s fastest mark in the 50 fly, clocking in at 27.62 before touching at 2:01.84 in the 200 free (16th). Kaitlyn Lee registered a time of 29.01 in the 50 fly, taking 25th.

Miller finished with a time of 2:17.80 (seventh) in the 200 back, with Eckberg touching at 2:19.18 for 10th place. Allison notched the team’s top time in the 200 breast with a mark of 2:34.16, with Corinne Vierra placing 22nd at 2:47.13.

Mooers grabbed ninth place in the 50 back (31.91) and later swam a time of 1:04.48 in the 50 free to finish in 14th. Knudsen took 10th in the 100 free, touching at 56.04, and earned 11th in the 50 free with a time of 25.73.

Lauren Turner recorded an 18th place finish in the 100 free (57.22), and took 34th in the 50 free (27.06).

Azusa Pacific will continue the early portion of its season next weekend when it travels to La Mirada for its first dual of the year. The Cougars will take on a Biola team it defeated twice last season on Saturday.
