FRESNO, Calif.-- In its second dual of the season, the Azusa Pacific women’s swimming and diving team fell to Fresno Pacific 251-210 during the two-day meet in Fresno this weekend. The Cougars won eight times, and swept all four diving events to drop to 1-1 in duals this season.
Robyn Dozier posted three wins, sweeping the diving competition on Saturday, and taking the 1-meter board on Friday. Dozier scored a 171.75 in the 1-meter on Friday before tallying 151.75 points 166.70 in the 1-meter and 3-meter respectively on Saturday. Fellow Cougar April Fautsch won the 3-meter on Friday (160.55), and took second in the remaining three contests.
Sydney Bello recorded two victories, placing first in the 1,000 free with a time of 15:54.18 before touching first in the 1,650 free at 18:42.71. Mikaela Fuller took second in the 1,650 clocking in at 18:57.35, while Heidi Zuniga tabbed a third place swim of 19:15.31 for one of two 1-2-3 finishes for Azusa Pacific during the week.
In the 200 fly the Cougars registered another 1-2-3 finish when Zuniga led a trio of Cougars with a 2:13.72 to take first. Sydney Escalante took second at 2:23.72, while Kaitlyn Lee rounded out the winner’s circle with a time of 2:25.79.
Ingrid Cardenas won the 500 free (5:24.09), and placed second in the 200 free (2:04.37), ahead of teammate Lauren Turner, who touched third at 2:02.27. Tink Gibb finished in the top-three in all four of her swims, taking second place in the 100 free (54.83) and 100 fly (28.70), while teaming with Brooke Miller, Rachel Allison, and Cardenas for second in the 200 medley relay (1:57.25). Gibb also registered a third place time of 25.66 in the 50 free.
Azusa Pacific will enjoy a two-week break before returning to action at UC Santa Cruz on Dec. 7.
