After one of the most successful tennis careers in Azusa Pacific history, Jochem Hoefnagels enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Cougar men's tennis team. A three-time NAIA All-American, an Co-PacWest Player of the Year, Hoefnagels registered a 76-14 record in his four seasons with the team.
As a senior captain in 2013, Hoefnagels led the Cougars to an undefeated regular season, vaulting Azusa Pacific into the NCAA Division II top-10 in its first season of NCAA competition. After falling in the PacWest tournament, Hoefnagels helped the Cougars to the program's second national championship as Azusa Pacific clinched the NCCAA title with a 5-3 victory over long-time rival Fresno Pacific in the championship match.
As a senior Hoefnagels posted a 24-3 record at No. 1 singles, and tabbed a perfect record in postseason play to close the year as the No. 12 ranked singles player in Division II. Hoefnagels is now working towards his master's in business administration.
