GLENDORA, Calif. -- Junior Art Fatkhiev and freshmen Matthijs Bolsius and Danny Colten each won their singles match and anchored each of Azusa Pacific’s doubles wins, leading an 8-1 near-sweep over NCAA Div. III Occidental Friday afternoon in the Cougars’ home opener at Citrus College.

Fatkhiev swept Daniel Ikuta at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with fellow junior John Goodrich in an 8-4 No. 2 doubles win.

Bolsius played at No. 1 singles for the first time in his career, and his debut in the top spot was a rousing success, as he picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Vince Mathias. Bolsius and freshman Robby Dabbs were victorious at No. 1 doubles with another 8-4 win, and Colten and freshman Jan Friedrich rounded out the doubles sweep with a third 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
