IRVINE, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific extended its conference winning streak to 49 straight matches after the NAIA’s No. 2-ranked Cougars posted a 7-2 road victory over No. 20-ranked Concordia Saturday afternoon.
Junior Art Fatkhiev and sophomore Patrick Kur led the way, with Kur picking up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and an 8-5 win with freshman Mathias Weber at No. 1 doubles, while Fatkhiev earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles after teaming up with freshman Robby Dabbs for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Senior David Goodman and freshman Matthijs Bolsius completed Azusa Pacific’s doubles sweep, earning an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, and Bolsius was also victorious at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 10-1 on the season and 5-0 in GSAC play, while Concordia drops to 6-6 overall, 2-2 in GSAC. The Cougars are on a 2-week break from conference play, but during the time off from the GSAC schedule, Azusa Pacific meets up with 4 non-conference opponents, beginning on the road with Cal Poly Pomona on Monday, March 5.
