FULLERTON, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific finished off a perfect 9-0 sweep over Hope International Tuesday afternoon, completing a match it started Friday, Feb. 18, which was suspended then during singles play due to rain.

In the original meeting, the Cougars posted a pair of results, which were straight-set singles victories from junior Janosch Apelt and freshman Frederik Wilkens. All the other singles matchups had been suspended with Azusa Pacific winning all opening sets and leading in the second set.

When play resumed Tuesday afternoon, freshman Alex Dickson quickly finished off his 6-0, 6-2 win by claiming the final game of the second set at No. 6, and he was followed by sophomore Jochem Hoefnagels at No. 2, freshman Benedikt Eger at No. 3, and junior Whitman Hough at No. 4 to round out the singles sweep.

Following the clean sweep of the singles matches, Azusa Pacific rounded out the victory by taking all 3 doubles matches, as well. The duo of Eger and junior Daniel Moore claimed an 8-2 No. 3 doubles win, with Hough and junior Ilja Ikonnikov posting an 8-3 result at No. 2, followed by Apelt and Hoefnagels closing out the match with an 8-4 No. 1 doubles victory.

Azusa Pacific is scheduled to take on Vanguard University Saturday (Feb. 26) at 2:30 p.m. in Costa Mesa. The Cougars are now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in GSAC play.
