Azusa Pacific 7
Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) 2

AZUSA, Calif. -- The NAIA’s No. 1-ranked Azusa Pacific picked up a big non-conference win Thursday with a 7-2 victory over NCAA Division III No. 7 Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.).

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 14-3. The Gusties fall to 14-4

The Cougars jumped to a 2-1 lead after doubles when they earned victories at No. 2 and No. 3. The Gusties’ No. 1 team of Adam Morgan and Brett Morse-Karzen was able to keep GAC in the match with a huge upset of Sam Fletcher and Adam Davidson. Boris Bakalov returned to the line-up for the first time in more than 2 weeks and teamed with Tom Jelsma for a win at No. 2 doubles.

In singles’ play, however, the Cougars’ depth took over. The Cougars took wins in the first 5 spots with the Gusties’ lone point coming at No. 6. The Cougars earned straight set wins at Nos. 1-4.
