HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The NAIA’s No. 1-ranked Azusa Pacific continued its late-season momentum with a big 8-1 win at NCAA Division II Hawaii Pacific.
With their seventh straight win, the Cougars improve to 19-3. It is also their first win over Hawaii Pacific in 10 years.
The Cougars were dominant from the first serve as they were rarely tested in doubles action. They swept all 3 matches to take a 3-0 lead with the closest match coming at No. 1 where Sam Fletcher and Adam Davidson defeated Matay Pampulov and Tomas Boleman, 8-4.
It was all Cougars in singles’ play. The Sea Warriors picked up their lone point when Gabor Boczonadi defeated Adam Davidson after Davidson retired with the match at 2-0 in the second set. Gordon Hong (No. 4), Tom Jelsma (No. 5) and Alex Muresan (No. 6) all picked up identical 6-0, 6-0 wins.
