COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Before the season started, the competition between No. 1-ranked Azusa Pacific and No. 6 Vanguard figured to be watched closely as the season unfolded.

However, the Lions, the second highest ranked team in the GSAC, have struggled mightily this season and the Cougars were more than happy to continue that trend as they posted a 6-3 road victory in Costa Mesa, Calif.

The match was a make-up of a rained out affair that was scheduled earlier this month but the delay did not slow down the Cougars who are back on track with their second straight big win.

Azusa Pacific got 4 straight set wins in singles play including a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 by Patrick Kur. David Goodman won in straight sets at No. 3 and combined with Kur to post an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

With the win the Cougars improve to 14-1 overall and remain undefeated in conference with a 7-0 mark. Vanguard dropped to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the GSAC.
