GLENDORA, Calif. -- The NAIA’s No. 5-ranked Azusa Pacific posted a 9-0 victory over NCAA Division III’s No. 12-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Wednesday afternoon.

After senior Kim Tran teamed up with junior Katy Jelsma for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, she proceeded to record a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to go a perfect 20-0 in games on the day. Jelsma was nearly as impressive after the doubles blanking, dropping just 2 games in the second set of her 6-0, 6-2 No. 2 singles victory.

Other straight-sets singles winners for Azusa Pacific included senior Bay Daniels and freshmen Casey Wetzig and Sheryl Bon.

Junior Lindsey Cloninger split the first 2 sets at No. 6 singles before registering a 10-5 win in the super tiebreaker set, completing the Cougar sweep.

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 2-1 on the season, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps drops to
