GLENDORA, Calif. -- The NAIA’s No. 6-ranked Azusa Pacific picked up its 11th consecutive match win, and the 9-0 win over No. 14-ranked Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho) was the Cougars’ fifth shutout in the past 7 matches.

It has been nearly a month since Azusa Pacific has surrendered more than 1 point in a match, and that came in a 7-2 win over Biola on Feb. 22 in which the Cougars defaulted both points away. Apart from those 2 points, Azusa Pacific has won 68 of the 70 contested singles and doubles matches over the past month.

Freshman Sheryl Bon led the way with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles after she and senior Bay Daniels posted an 8-0 sweep at No. 1 doubles. Daniels won at the No. 1 position in 3 sets, 6-3, 2-6 (10-6). All other Cougar singles won their respective matches in straight sets.

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 12-1 on the season, while Lewis-Clark State drops to 5-3. The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday, March 19, hosting No. 5-ranked Savannah Art & Design (Ga.) in a 2:30 p.m. dual match at Citrus College. Azusa Pacific won its only other match against an NAIA top 10 program this season, edging No. 9-ranked California Baptist by a 5-4 margin in a Feb. 16 Golden State Athletic Conference matchup.
