SANTA CLARITA, Calif.-- The NAIA’s No. 7 ranked Azusa Pacific women’s tennis team opened the GSAC season with a resounding 9-0 win over The Master’s on Tuesday. The Cougars, who opened the season with a major win over UC San Diego, lost just nine total games on the day, while sweeping four singles matches with a perfect mark.

In doubles the team of Emily Harris and Nakieta Hein was able to come away with an 8-1 win to open the day, while Leah Hoffee and Danae Ingwaldson posted an 8-2 victory. Natalie McNall teamed up with freshman Bethany Duval, who was making her first appearance, to notch an 8-2 win to wrap up doubles.

In singles play Hoffee, Harris, Ingwaldson, and Kim Koetterheinrich won convincingly with 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. Hein, who was making her Azusa Pacific debut, registered a 6-1, 6-1 sweep, as did McNall.

With the win the Cougars improve to 2-0 on the young season and travel to Fullerton for a match with Hope International on Saturday.
