HONOLULU, Hawai’i-- A day removed from one its most humbling losses, the Azusa Pacific tennis team recorded a dominating win over Dominican, sweeping the Penguins 5-0 to advance to the Pacific West tournament fifth place match.

The Cougars, who had their earlier season win over Fresno Pacific avenged on Thursday, didn’t miss a beat on Friday, sweeping through doubles before tacking on a pair of singles wins to earn their 16th victory of the year.

Brejohn McCrary and Kim Koetterheinrich opened things up in impressive fashion, blasting Ariana Paradis and Marissa Frazer in an 8-0 sweep at No. 2. Emily Harris and Danae Ingwaldson registered an 8-3 defeat of Irina Morozova and Gaby Verspieren at No. 1, while Samantha Kaneta and Stephanie Quan tabbed an 8-2 win against Francesca Katafias and Emily Prescott at No. 3.

In singles Koetterheinrich put the Cougars ahead 4-0 with a swift 6-0, 6-1 over Paradis before Yeom sealed the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. Azusa Pacific was leading on the other four courts when the match was sealed.

With the win the Cougars advance to the fifth place match tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. (HAST).
