SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The NAIA’s No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific came back from a 2-1 deficit to steal a 5-4 win at No. 10 Point Loma Nazarene Saturday in San Diego.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-2 overall, 4-1 GSAC. Point Loma falls to 6-4, 5-3.

The Cougars dug themselves a hole after falling behind 2-1 in doubles play. Peggy Bell and Lynn Quitoriano picked up the Cougars’ lone point at No. 2 when they defeated Amanda Miller and Andrea Montoya, 8-3.

Alyse Tyson and Montoya picked up 2 more points for the Sea Lions, but Jennifer Dao slammed the door for the Cougars when she came back to down Ashley Strimple at No. 1 singles (5-7, 6-4, 6-2). Bay Daniels (No. 3), Mayu Sato (No. 4) and Quitoriano (No. 5) each earned straight set wins.
