RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The NAIA’s No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific beat up on first-year program California Baptist, 8-1, in GSAC women’s tennis Wednesday in Riverside.

The Cougars swept all 3 doubles’ matches and then took the first 5 singles’ matches before the Lancers picked up their lone point at No. 6 singles when Brittany Schwandt edged Heather Hiatt, 2-6, 6-3 (11-9).

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 12-2 overall, 8-1 GSAC. It is the Cougars’ eighth straight win as they remain just one game behind GSAC-leading and No. 2-ranked Vanguard in the race for the GSAC title. The Lancers fall to 6-8, 3-6.
