HONOLULU, Hawaii -- NCAA Division I Hawaii proved to be too much for the NAIA’s No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific as the Rainbow Wahine downed the Cougars, 7-0, Tuesday at the UH Tennis Complex.
The loss is the Cougars’ second in a row and fourth in the past 5 matches. Azusa Pacific is now 14-6 overall. Meanwhile, Hawaii wins its fourth straight and improves to 9-13.
UH swept the doubles matches, including the No. 2 court where Justine Boutet and Sylvia Jaros improved to 8-0 with an 8-2 victory over Peggy Bell and Lynn Quitoriano. By virtue of the sweep, the Rainbow Wahine picked up the lone doubles’ point available to take a 1-0 lead into singles’ play.
