THIS YEAR: A multi-purpose athlete, freshman John Ellis will focus on the long and triple jumps in the college career ... Has promise to develop into an NAIA national qualifier over the course of his career ... Can also compete in the in the hurdles.

HIGH SCHOOL: Competed 4 seasons in track & field at David Douglas High in Portland, Ore. ... Was a 2-year all-district honoree in both the long and triple jump, winning the district long jump title as a 2007 senior with a career-best leap of 21’ 8” ... Finished 11th in the long jump at the state 6A meet ... Also ran a leg on the Scots’ 4x100 relay that finished eighth in the state ... Other lifetime bests are 44’ 0 1/2” in the triple jump, 15.59 in the 110 hurdles and 43.64 in the 300 hurdles.
