THIS YEAR: Perhaps the NAIAs premier multi-event athlete, senior Zora Golcevska is not only gunning for NAIA titles in both the heptathlon and pentathlon but she is also looking for school records in the process A terrific hurdler and long jumper as well and could press for All-America recognition in those events as well May prove to be a key for the Cougars in the relays as well.
2007: Garnered 4 NAIA All-America honors during her 2007 junior season, her first at Azusa Pacific Was the NAIA runner-up in the heptathlon (4,938) and pentathlon (3,550) Collected another pair of All-America honors in the high hurdles 60 indoors (8.86) and 100 outdoors (14.53) Set the school record in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.80 during the NAIA prelims Also set the school record in the heptathlon, tallying 5,131 points during the Mt. THIS YEAR: One of the leaders of the Cougar women, 4-time All-American Kjersti Housman is a strong runner who could figure prominently in relay races If at full strength, could also help in the 400 or 800 meters.
2007: Recorded 3 NAIA All-America honors by running relay legs Was a member of the Cougar 4x800 that finished fifth (9:13.02) at the NAIA Indoor Championships and third at the outdoor meet (9:06.81) Garnered the other All-America honor on indoor distance medley relay (12:02.23) Was hampered much of the season by a leg injury.
2006: Collected her first-ever NAIA All-America honor by running a leg on the NAIA indoor runner-up 4x400 relay that clocked a 3:50.69 ... Qualified for the NAIA finals in the 400 hurdles, finishing ninth with a 1:04.91 ... Also ran the third leg on the Cougars outdoor 4x400 that finished eighth at the NAIAs ... Recorded the eighth fastest 400 hurdles in program history with a 1:03.38 at the Steve Scott Invitational in late April ... 2007: Captured her first 2 NAIA All-America honors and in rather grand fashion during the 2007 NAIA Outdoor Championship Meet in Fresno Recorded personal bests in both discus and hammer, finishing second and fifth respectively The effort in the discus clinched the Cougars national championship Posted PRs of more than 8 feet in the discus and nearly 11 feet in the hammer during the NAIA championship meet At the GSAC Championships finished fourth in both the hammer (153 1) and the discus (144 10) Qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championship Meet in the 20-pound weight throw, finishing ninth (59 2Ύ).

THIS YEAR: A 6-time All-American, senior Whitney Jacobsmeyer returns for her final season at Azusa Pacific, competing only during the indoor campaign A strong runner who figures to take her outdoor steeplechase experience and parlay it into success with the indoor 3000 Should be a factor as well on the Cougar 4x800 and distance medley relays.
2007: Enjoyed a banner 2007 season, garnering 4 NAIA All-American honors, including 3 on relays the indoor and outdoor 4x800 and the distance medley At the NAIA Outdoor Championship Meet in Fresno, finished third in the steeplechase (11:00.70) for her other All-America honor At the GSAC Championships won the steeplechase (11:57.38) for her second conference title.
2006: Collected her second All-American honors by finishing fourth in the steeplechase (11:13.52) at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Fresno ... Also ran a leg on the Cougars 4x800 relay that finished eighth in the finals ... At the indoor championships, advanced to the 3000 finals, finishing ninth (10:36.95) ... 2005: In her first season as a Cougar, earned All-American honors by finishing sixth in the steeplechase at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Louisville, Ky., with the third fastest steeple in Cougar history, 11:04.85 Qualified for the NAIA Indoors in the 3000 meters and advanced to the finals Won the GSAC steeple crown (11:14.95). Also ran the 5000 and clocked a season-best 18:00.7, the ninth best time in program history.
CROSS COUNTRY: Closed out a fine 3-year Cougar career in cross country by finishing 50th at the 2006 NAIA Championship Meet in Louisville, Ky. ... THIS YEAR: A high-impact newcomer, sophomore Jackline Kipwambok will not only push for All-America honors but also NAIA championship recognition in either the 5000 or 10,000 Is quite versatile and could score in the 1500 or 3000 (indoor) as well Teams with Canterbury, Richert and Reyes to give Azusa Pacific a strong corps of distance runners.
CROSS COUNTRY: Fashioned an outstanding 2007 campaign, her first at running cross country Was the NAIA runner-up, finishing second to teammate Jaime Canterbury at the national championship meet by clocking a personal 5K best of 17:14, the second fastest cross Was the GSAC (17:47) and NAIA regional (17:26) champion Finished no lower than seventh in any of the 6 meets in which she competed.

THIS YEAR: A developing distance runner, sophomore Forrest Lewton has greatly benefited from a year of training with NAIA champion Aron Rono and now could emerge as an All-American Strong runner who excels in the steeplechase Can also run the 5000 and the indoor 3000.
2007: Came on strong toward the end of the season and earned a spot on the Cougars NAIA outdoor championship squad Clocked a 9:38.63 in the NAIA steeplechase prelims Recorded the seventh fastest steeplechase in program history with a 9:32.1 at the Claremont Invitational .. Finished seventh in the GSAC steeple.
CROSS COUNTRY: As a 2007 sophomore, ran his first season of cross country with Azusa Pacific Was the Cougars No. 2 runner at the 2007 NAIA championship meet with a 26:28 time on the 8K course Was also the Cougars No. 2 runner with a personal 8K record 25:35 at the 2007 Stanford Invitational where the Cougars clocked a team-time of 2:06.26, the fourth best team-time in program history Competed for San Diego Christian College as a 2005 freshman, finishing 40th at the GSAC Championship Meet Had to sit out the 2006 season.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Ran 2 seasons for head coach Jani Johnson at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, Calif. As a 2006 freshman, won the Western State Conference championship titles in the 200 (21.73) and 400 (48.25) with personal-record efforts At the Southern California championship meet, clocked a 49.76 to finish eighth in the finals of the 400 meters As a 2007 sophomore clocked team bests of 22.01 (200), 48.53 (400) and 1:57.80 (800) before a season-ending injury shut him down in mid-April Also went 22 6 in the long jump and 6 6 in the high jump Played 1 season of basketball as a reserve point guard for the Cougars during his 2006 freshman season.

2007: Battled through an injury-plagued 2007 sophomore campaign in which she was forced to shut down by early April Cleared a season-best 10-feet in the pole vault during the indoor season Also ran the 60- (8.69) and 100-meters (14.05) to primarily work on her runway speed.
2006: Fashioned a fine 2006 collegiate rookie season in which she cleared her collegiate-best 10 6 in the pole vault during a meet at Point Loma Nazarene Did not compete in the GSAC championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned varsity letters in cross country, soccer and track & field during her 4-year career at North Medford High in Medford, Ore. 2007: Captured 3 more NAIA All-Americas during his 2007 junior campaign, including 2 in the 4x800 (indoor and outdoor) Ran the third leg on the Cougars distance medley and 4x800 (outdoor) relays that won the NAIA titles Competed only in the prelims of the GSAC championship meet despite qualifying for the 800 finals.
2006: Collected 4 All-American honors as a 2006 sophomore ... Was a key figure in the Cougars capturing an unprecedented fourth straight NAIA outdoor 4x800 relay title ... 2006: In his first track season as a Cougar, came on toward the end of the season, setting up a strong cross country campaign in the fall Recorded a lifetime best of 1:55.28 in the 800 at the Oxy Invitational .. 2006: As a 2006 junior was the GSAC champion in the hammer with a throw of 149 3 At the same meet also finished sixth in the shot put (38 9) Posted career bests of 43 3Ύ in the shot put and 159 1 in the hammer throw at the Pomona Invitational.
2005: As a 2005 sophomore, competed in the GSAC Championship Meet where he finished fourth in the hammer (140 9) and discus (136 2) and sixth in the shot (39 5Ύ) Also tried his hand in the javelin and recorded a personal-record throw of 163 5 in a meet at Point Loma Nazarene University.
2004: As a freshman at the GSAC Championships in Fresno, finished fifth in the hammer (career-best 139 10) and seventh in the discus (126 8) Fouled out in the shot Recorded a season-best of 45 7Ό in the shot at the Pomona Invitational.
FOOTBALL: Was a 2-year member of Azusa Pacifics nationally-ranked football team, redshirtting the 2002 seasons before moving into the 2-deep along the Cougar offensive front in 2003 Appeared in several games in a reserve role for the 8-2 Cougars who advanced to the NAIA playoffs.

THIS YEAR: Senior Matt Sparks is one the premier sprinters in the NAIA Has won the NAIA high hurdle titles at both the indoor and outdoor championships Is a 7-time All-American between the high and intermediate hurdles Has completed his indoor eligibility and will not begin competing for the Cougars until mid-March Teams with Pichler, Gay and Thomas to lead an outstanding Cougar hurdle corps.
2007: Helped lead the Cougars to the 2007 NAIA indoor team championship by registering his first-ever indoor title when he won the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best 8.08 Also ran a leg on the Cougars 4x400 that did not advance out of the NAIA prelims Suffered a foot injury that shut him down for the entire 2007 outdoor campaign.
2006: Became only the third Cougar ever (but the second in 4 years) to win an NAIA title in the 110 hurdles, clocking a personal-best 14.00 in the finals of the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Fresno, edging his nearest competitor by .20 of a second ... Came back later in the meet to finish as the national runner-up in the 400 hurdles (53.03) to become just the third Cougar ever to garner All-America honors in both hurdle races at the same championship meet ... Also ran the opening leg on the Cougars 4x400 relay that finished fourth (3:12.23) ... Ran a leg on the 4x100 that advanced to the NAIA finals ... Qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championship 60-meter hurdles, but did not advance to the finals ... Won the GSAC 400 hurdles title with a 53.89.
2005: As a 2005 sophomore, fashioned one of the finest seasons ever by a Cougar hurdler Advanced to the finals of all 3 NAIA championship hurdle races, including the 110 highs and 400 intermediates at the outdoor meet Collected a pair of All-American honors by finishing fourth in the indoor 55 hurdles (7.74) and fourth in the outdoor 110 hurdles (14.60) Was seventh in the outdoor 400 hurdles (52.92) Garnered another All-American honor by running the opening leg on the Cougars 4x400 relay that finished sixth at the NAIA Indoor Championships Recorded personal bests of 14.31 in the 110 highs (tenth best time in program history), clocked at the Mt. SAC Relays, and 52.41 in the 400 intermediates (sixth best time in program history) at the Steve Scott Invitational.
2004: As a 2004 freshman qualified for the NAIA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships in high hurdles, clocking an 8.08 in the indoor 55 highs and a 14.84 in the finals of the outdoor 110 highs Qualified for the finals with a season-best 14.69 in the semis Ran a season-best 56.92 in the 400 hurdles at the Pomona Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered 3 years in track & field at Gunnison (Colo.) High where over his final 2 seasons he collected 5 state championship honors As a 2003 senior, teamed with current Cougar Jason Zichterman to lead the Cowboys to the state 3A team title by winning the 110 high hurdles with a state 3A record 14.52 Was also the state champ in the 300 hurdles with a 38.70 Anchored Gunnison to the winning 4x400 relay (3:25.22) As a 2002 junior, won the state crown in the 110 hurdles (15.21) and was fifth in the 300 hurdles (41.10) Ran a leg on the state record-setting 4x400 (3:22.42), while leading the Cowboys to a fourth-place finish in the state 3A meet Also played 2 seasons of basketball (guard).

Casey Stevick

THIS YEAR: A bright newcomer, freshman Casey Stevick is looking to fashion a collegiate career that will place his name among some of the Cougar decathlon greats such as Bryan Clay, Dave Johnson, Doug Loisel and Gary Wise A marvelous athlete who excels in the running events and will get better in the throws as he gets stronger.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 3-sport standout at Olympia (Wash.) High where as a 2007 senior at the state 4A meet he finished fourth in the high jump (6 6), sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.12) and long jump (21 1) Was a 2-time state decathlon champion for his age group, winning the 2007 crown with a personal-best score of 6,007 points Also had a personal best of 169 in the javelin Earned 2 varsity letters in basketball (forward) and 3 in tennis Was a member of the national honor society.
PERSONAL: Born Sept. 2, 1988, in Palo Alto, Calif. Parents are Drew (surgeon) and Wendy Stevick Has 2 brothers (Jesse, Joe) and 2 sisters (Cassidy, Autumn) His dad was the 1970 NAIA javelin champion (241 6) while at Whitworth College and later was the founder of the Barron Park Striders, a youth track club in Washington His brother Jesse was a decathlete at Whitworth and is currently an accomplished marathoner His brother Joe was a 3-time NAIA All-American at Westmont College Majoring in chemistry Has made summer mission trips to Guatemala and Mexico Enjoys playing ping pong.

THIS YEAR: Azusa Pacifics primary hope in the jumps, sophomore Monti Sutton is an emerging athlete who could score on the national level Is coming off a fine rookie season in which he established himself as the Cougars best triple-jumper in a decade Also competes in the long jump and short sprints.
2007: As a freshman put together a fine 2007 spring ... Qualified for the NAIA indoor and outdoor track & field championships in the triple jump (did not advance to the finals) and ran legs on the Cougars 4x100 relay ... Posted a career best leap of 48 7½ for the seventh best triple jump in school history ... Won the Golden State Athletic Conference triple jump title with the best leap ever by a freshman (48 2½) ... Also had a season best of 11.13 in the 100 meters.
FOOTBALL: Has played 2 seasons on the Cougar football team as a wide receiver and return specialist Has appeared in 19 games, averaging 23.4 yards on 26 kickoff returns Has an 82-yard return in the 2007 season opener vs. nationally-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University Has also returned 7 punts as a Cougar.

THIS YEAR: One of the premier throwers in the NAIA, 4-time All-American Ruth Wilhelm is looking to become the first Cougar ever to earn All-America honors in all 6 throwing events (indoor/outdoor shot, weight, hammer, discus, javelin) Owns the programs seventh best efforts in the shot (44 8Ό) hammer (166 6) and discus (151 8) and the fifth best in the 20-pound weight throw (53 10½) Is a 4-time All-GSAC honoree.
2007: Collected a trio of All-America honors during her 2007 junior campaign Finished fifth in the 20-pound weight throw (personal-best 53 10½) at the NAIA Indoor Championships At the NAIA Outdoor Championships was sixth in both the discus (149 9) and the hammer (166 6) At the GSAC Championships was second in the shot (44 8Ό) and third in the hammer (158 0).
2006: Put together a fine 2006 season in which she garnered her first-ever NAIA All-America recognition by finishing sixth in the hammer (160 5) ... Also qualified for the NAIA meet, but did not score, in the discus and javelin throws ... At the NAIA Indoor Championship, qualified in the 20-pound weight throw but did not advance to the finals ... THIS YEAR: The hard-working, over-achieving Devyn Wills returns for what he hopes will be a breakthrough season in the heptathlon and decathlon Gained valuable national-level experience last year competing in the NAIA Indoor Championship Meet Now has his eyes set on scoring on the national level A good runner who also performs well in the shot put.
2007: Won the Golden State Athletic Conference decathlon title with a personal-record score of 5,433 Was the last of the 16 heptathlon qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor Championships and finished 11th with 3,994 points Scored a career-high 4,052 points in a heptathlon held at Azusa Pacific.
2006: Tried his hand at the decathlon for the first time in his track & field career, tallying a best of 5,078 at the GSAC Championships to finish second in the conference meet ... Posted season bests of 11.49 (100), 22.79 (200), 4:45.29 (1500), 30 11 Ύ (shot) and 139 7 (javelin).
HIGH SCHOOL: Ran 2 seasons of track at Justin-Siena High in Napa, Calif. ... 2007: In his first season at Azusa Pacific, garnered 5 NAIA All-America honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons Was a key in Azusa Pacific winning the NAIA indoor championship by finishing fourth in the 600 (1:19.95 the fourth fastest in program history) and then running legs on the Cougars 4x400 and 4x800 that finished sixth and third, respectively At the outdoor championships, was sixth in the 800 (1:52.12) and was a member of the NAIA championship 4x800 Clocked the sixth fastest 800 (1:51.32) during the NAIA prelims Won the GSAC 800 (1:55.08) title Also recorded a 48.99 in the 400 at the Claremont Classic.
COLORADO: Ran 3 seasons of track & field at the University of Colorado ... Had to overcome a pair of arthroscopic knee surgeries during his sophomore and junior seasons ...
