THIS YEAR: A 6-time All-American, senior Whitney Jacobsmeyer returns for her final season at Azusa Pacific, competing only during the indoor campaign A strong runner who figures to take her outdoor steeplechase experience and parlay it into success with the indoor 3000 Should be a factor as well on the Cougar 4x800 and distance medley relays.
2007: Enjoyed a banner 2007 season, garnering 4 NAIA All-American honors, including 3 on relays the indoor and outdoor 4x800 and the distance medley At the NAIA Outdoor Championship Meet in Fresno, finished third in the steeplechase (11:00.70) for her other All-America honor At the GSAC Championships won the steeplechase (11:57.38) for her second conference title.
2006: Collected her second All-American honors by finishing fourth in the steeplechase (11:13.52) at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Fresno ... Also ran a leg on the Cougars 4x800 relay that finished eighth in the finals ... At the indoor championships, advanced to the 3000 finals, finishing ninth (10:36.95) ... At the GSAC Championship Meet in San Diego, scored in the steeplechase (11:18.0 2nd) and 5000 (18:17.50 5th).
2005: In her first season as a Cougar, earned All-American honors by finishing sixth in the steeplechase at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Louisville, Ky., with the third fastest steeple in Cougar history, 11:04.85 Qualified for the NAIA Indoors in the 3000 meters and advanced to the finals Won the GSAC steeple crown (11:14.95). Also ran the 5000 and clocked a season-best 18:00.7, the ninth best time in program history.
CROSS COUNTRY: Closed out a fine 3-year Cougar career in cross country by finishing 50th at the 2006 NAIA Championship Meet in Louisville, Ky. ... Was a 2-time All-American (only third Cougar ever to earn back-to-back honors) after finishing 25th at both the 2004 and 2005 NAIA Championship Meets in Louisville Clocked an 18:20 at the 2005 national meet Appeared in 18 career meets, recording a 5K best of 18:11 when she finished fourth at the 2004 NAIA regional meet in Fresno, Calif. Was third at the 2004 GSACs, fifth at the 2005 meet and ninth in 2006.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Spent the 2003 fall season running cross country at UC Santa Barbara, appearing in 4 meets for the eventual Big West champion Gauchos, running primarily on the B squad Clocked a season-best 19:05 5K at the Riverside Invitational Spent the 2004 spring season as a member of Diablo Valley Community Colleges track & field squad Was a 2-time state qualifier, finishing second in the steeplechase and sixth in the 5000 Won the 10,000 and steeplechase at the 2004 NorCal Regional Championships Had a best of 40:40 in the 10,000 and 18:59 in the 5000.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ran 4 seasons of track & field for coach Glen Dishman at Berean Christian High in Walnut Creek, Calif. Was a 2-time state qualifier, including her 2003 senior season when she finished second in the steeplechase and sixth in the 5000 Was the CIF NorCal champ in the steeplechase and 10,000 Set school records in the 800 (2:31), 1600 (5:13), and 3200 (11:10) In cross country, finished 12th in the state Division V meet with a 19:46 5K.
