Casey Stevick

THIS YEAR: A bright newcomer, freshman Casey Stevick is looking to fashion a collegiate career that will place his name among some of the Cougar decathlon greats such as Bryan Clay, Dave Johnson, Doug Loisel and Gary Wise … A marvelous athlete who excels in the running events and will get better in the throws as he gets stronger.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 3-sport standout at Olympia (Wash.) High where as a 2007 senior at the state 4A meet he finished fourth in the high jump (6’ 6”), sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.12) and long jump (21’ 1”) … Was a 2-time state decathlon champion for his age group, winning the 2007 crown with a personal-best score of 6,007 points … Also had a personal best of 169’ in the javelin … Earned 2 varsity letters in basketball (forward) and 3 in tennis … Was a member of the national honor society.
PERSONAL: Born Sept. 2, 1988, in Palo Alto, Calif. … Parents are Drew (surgeon) and Wendy Stevick … Has 2 brothers (Jesse, Joe) and 2 sisters (Cassidy, Autumn) … His dad was the 1970 NAIA javelin champion (241’ 6”) while at Whitworth College and later was the founder of the Barron Park Striders, a youth track club in Washington … His brother Jesse was a decathlete at Whitworth and is currently an accomplished marathoner … His brother Joe was a 3-time NAIA All-American at Westmont College … Majoring in chemistry … Has made summer mission trips to Guatemala and Mexico … Enjoys playing ping pong.
