THIS YEAR: The hard-working, over-achieving Devyn Wills returns for what he hopes will be a breakthrough season in the heptathlon and decathlon … Gained valuable national-level experience last year competing in the NAIA Indoor Championship Meet … Now has his eyes set on scoring on the national level … A good runner who also performs well in the shot put.

2007: Won the Golden State Athletic Conference decathlon title with a personal-record score of 5,433 … Was the last of the 16 heptathlon qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor Championships and finished 11th with 3,994 points … Scored a career-high 4,052 points in a heptathlon held at Azusa Pacific.

2006: Tried his hand at the decathlon for the first time in his track & field career, tallying a best of 5,078 at the GSAC Championships to finish second in the conference meet ... Posted season bests of 11.49 (100), 22.79 (200), 4:45.29 (1500), 30’ 11 ¾” (shot) and 139’ 7” (javelin).

HIGH SCHOOL: Ran 2 seasons of track at Justin-Siena High in Napa, Calif. ... As a 2005 senior, went undefeated in the 400 meters and in the process was the champion of the Marin County Athletic League, Napa County and CIF North Coast Section ... As a 2003 sophomore was the only underclassman on the team ... Missed all of his 2004 junior and 2002 freshman campaigns with injuries ... Also ran 1 season of cross country for the Braves.

PERSONAL: Born July 17, 1987, in Pinetop, Ariz., to Mark (physician) and Denise Wills ... Has 1 younger sister (Maya) ... Majoring in communication with a minor in psychology.
