HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-time state javelin champion at Colville (Wash.) High from where he graduated in 2008 ... In winning the state crown as a 2007 junior, set the state record at 212' 6" ... Later that summer, placed second at the Nike Outdoor National Meet with a personal-best heave of 212' 7" ... Suffered an elbow injury, however, at the Nike meet and was reduced to a few meets as a 2008 senior ... Nonetheless, still won the state crown ... Sat out the 2009 season to heal his elbow and attend a Christian discipleship program in Dallas, Texas ...
