AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific is hosting the Mt. SAC Relays/California Invitational Heptathlon and Decathlon over the next 2 days. Regarded as one of the best decathlons/heptathlons, this year's muti events in Azusa feature more than 80 "multi-eventers" in the Canyon City in search of thousands of points.

World-class athlete Eunice Barber of France is competing in the heptathlon while several current and former collegiate standouts are also present, hoping to achieve collegiate or U.S. championship meet standards.

Michelle Perry raced out to the early lead in the Mt. SAC Relays Heptathlon, tallying 3,523 points in the process. Robin Unger followed in a close second with 3,464 points. Both totals are personal first-day bests for each lady.

Former NCAA champ Claston Bernard out of LSU leads the Mt. SAC Relays Decathlon with 4,053 points. Wayne Scott of Oral Roberts University is second with 3,966 while defending champion Paul Terek is currently third with 3,963 points.
