AZUSA, Calif. – As has been the case with nearly every outdoor event scheduled for this weekend, rain got the best of Azusa Pacific’s Last Chance Indoor Qualifier slated for today.

Standing water in lanes one and two of the track, flooded long jump pits, and the continuation of steady rain forced the cancellation of all but 5 distance events at Cougar Stadium.

Also, because of the rain, several schools chose not to risk travel on rain-soaked freeways and opted to stay home, cutting the competitive field down to just a select few.

Fortunately for Azusa Pacific, the Cougars had already qualified key athletes for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships which will be held in Johnson City, Tenn., March 4-5.

Azusa Pacific, which has swept the men’s and women’s NAIA indoor championships the past 2 years, will take next week off in order to rest and prepare for the NAIA meet.
