Azusa Pacific, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, rebounding from its loss at No. 2 Fresno Pacific Tuesday night with a 3-game sweep of The Master’s College, 30-21, 30-20, 30-28, Thursday in Santa Clarita.

The win is the Cougars tenth in the past 11 games. The Cougars had their 9-match winning streak snapped Tuesday at Fresno. They improve to 16-5 overall, 11-3 GSAC. The Master’s drops to 17-10, 7-7.

Sophomore Roxanna Mercer led another balanced attack with a match-high 9 kills. She committed just 1 error in 19 attempts and hit .421. She also added 8 digs, 3 blocks and 2 aces. Junior All-American Jenna Sagehorn added 7 kills and 10 digs. Senior T.J. Gause had a match-high 18 digs.

As a team, the Cougars hit just .094, but had 67 digs, 10 team blocks and 9 aces. Sophomore Adrienne Pepe led the Cougars with 5 blocks (3 solo, 2 assists).

The Cougars host Hope International Tuesday at 7 p.m., needing just 1 more win to match the program’s best start since 1994.
