AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific middle blocker Chelsea Morgan has been granted another season of eligibility by the NAIA last Thursday. Now listed as a junior, Morgan, who had spent 2 seasons at Nevada-Reno, was given a fifth year because of the limited action she saw during her second season.

She appeared in just 4 matches during her 2003 season at Nevada-Reno and petitioned the NAIA for a hardship year which was consequently given to her.

Morgan currently is leading the Cougars with 129 kills and 41 blocks, averaging 3.79 kills and 1.21 blocks per game respectively. She is a big reason why the NAIA’s No. 11-ranked Azusa Pacific (10-1, 2-0) is off to its best start since 2000.

“We’re glad we found out about this at the beginning of the year,” said head coach Chris Keife. “Now she doesn’t have to worry about the situation because she knows she’s here for another full year. It is great for our program.”

Morgan had a season-high 17 kills in the Cougars 3-game sweep of Point Loma Nazarene last Saturday night. Azusa Pacific will be back on the court Tuesday, September 13, at the Felix Event Center when it takes on Biola at 7 p.m.
