AZUSA, Calif. -- Fresh off a season that saw Azusa Pacific reach the NAIA Tournament for the first time since 2000 it has been rewarded with a pair of All-American selections.

The Cougars’ Jenny Brickner, who set several program records this season, was a first team selection while Chelsea Morgan was placed on the second team. The middle blocking tandem both earned honorable mention in 2004.

Brickner and Morgan were catalysts for a Cougar team that finished third in the Golden State Athletic Conference and finished 26-11, the highest win total for the program since 1991.

Brickner concluded her career with a terrific season. She finished second in the GSAC with a .418 hitting percentage trailing only Lorena Zuleta of Fresno Pacific. Brickner’s .418 mark shatters the school record of .387 set by Lenee Hill back in 1991. She concluded her fine career with 17 kills in a 3-1 win over Savannah Art & Design (Ga.) including the match ending put away.

She had double-digit kills in 21 matches this season including a string of 7 in a row from Oct. 13 through Nov. 1. Her season included several highlight moments as she set a new program record for career assist blocks with 410 as she surpassed Sheri Duffy who had 388 from 1990-91. Brickner leaves second in total career blocks with 517 as she surpassed Cathy Sigdestad this year.

With her 418 kills this season she has accumulated a career total of 1336 which places her third on the all-time list.

Morgan led the team with 479 kills during her junior campaign. Her team-high 3.77 kills per game ranked in the top-6 of the GSAC. She had at least 10 kills in 27 of the Cougars 37 matches this past season including a stretch of 7 straight from Sept. 3 to Sept. 23.

She set a new school record with her performance in the first match of pool play at the NAIA Tournament. Morgan had a remarkable .750 attack percentage in leading Azusa Pacific to a 3-0 win over Indiana Southeast. She had 16 kills in 20 attempts with just 1 hitting error in the win. She breaks her own record that she set last season against Biola when she hit .688 with 22 kills in 32 attempts without an error.

Brickner and Morgan become the fourth and fifth players in program history to earn multiple All-American honors during their Cougar careers. Brickner is the first player placed on the first team since Tiara Ainuu in 1994.
