REDLANDS, Calif.-- Azusa Pacific dropped a pair of matches at the Redlands mini tournament n Saturday, falling to Redlands 15-7, and Claremont-Mudd-Sripps 10-7. Jennifer Horchler scored three goals on the day and tallied five steals, but the Cougars couldn't keep up with the Bulldogs or Athenas to drop to 5-7 on the season.

In the first match Azusa Pacific led 4-3 over Redlands after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs outscored the Cougars4-1 in the second to take a 7-5 lead to the break. In the third quarter the Cougars were shutout, while Redlands found the back of the net five times to push ts lead to 12-5. In the final quarter Azusa Pacific was able to tack on two goals, but the Bulldogs added three of their own to win it 15-7.

Horchler (who got majored), Allison Gonzales, and Courtney Folsom each had two goals, while Megan Minkime finished with two steals and a goal. Brooke Sovick registered seven saves in the match.

In the second match the Cougars and Athenas were tied at the break, but a 5-2 second half gave Claremont-Mudd-Scripps the win. Azusa Pacific was ejected nine times, and only drew two ejections, leading to six 6-on-5 goals for the Athenas compared to none for the Cougars. Azusa Pacific also played sloppy, turning the ball over 11 times.

Horchler recorded three steals in the match, while Taylor Whitney and Daniella Khatchetourian scored twice. Sovick tallied 10 saves and Folsom posted two assists.

Next weekend the Cougars will play three more NCAA Div. III opponents at the Posada Royale Invitational, hosted by California Lutheran. Azusa Pacific is set to play Cal Lutheran and Pomona-Pitzer on Friday, and Chapman on Saturday.
