AZUSA, Calif.-- Following its inaugural season in the Golden Coast Conference, the Azusa Pacific women’s water polo team had seven players named to the GCC All-Academic team, the conference office announced Monday.

“As a coaching staff we try to be diligent in making sure our student-athletes are engaged and successful in their academic endeavors, so I’m very proud of the girls who were able to excel in the pool and the classroom,” said head coach Julie Snodgrass.

The Cougars, who set the program record for single-season wins with 16 in 2014, had two All-GCC performers listed, with second-teamer Maryann Slama and All-Freshmen honoree, Megan Myers making the grade. Rebecca Bennigson and Allison Gonzales represented Azusa Pacific’s senior class, while juniors Lora Donaldson and Angelina Castaneda, and sophomore Katie Margot rounded out the Cougar honors.
