Graphics Center

The Graphics Center is a self-service resource lab open to APU constituents and the surrounding community. Our purpose is not to compete with commercial businesses, but to provide an alternative and cost-effective solution for those wishing to manage their own project or gain hands-on experience with graphic design.

We are located on West Campus behind the Darling Library. View on campus map.

Current hours:
Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Hours may vary during spring break, Christmas, summer, and other holidays. Contact the office for more information.

Products and Services

The Graphics Center offers the following products and services:

  • Binding: The center offers three types of binding for your projects: comb, spiral, and thermal.
    • Comb binding—punch holes and bind your project with a more rigid plastic spine. An attractive and economical option!
    • Spiral binding—punch holes and keep your project together with a handsome spiral spine. Add covers in a variety of colors.
    • Thermal binding—loose sheets are held permanently in a steel spine with a heat-activated glue. Choose from a clear, matte, or a hardback cover.
  • Color copying/printing: Make color laser copies and prints on a variety of papers up to 12”X18”.
  • Craft supplies: We carry Ellison die cuts, colored butcher paper, paint pens, poster board, colored markers, and other fun items for craft projects.
  • Graphic design resources: Use Adobe graphics software on four PC and two Mac workstations. Create posters, banners, postcards, flyers, invitations, calendars, business cards, or anything you like! Feel free to design your own projects, or just explore what these programs have to offer.
  • Lamination: Laminate prints up to three-feet wide on our roll laminator. Make easy cards, luggage tags, signs, and more with the pouch laminator. Pouches are available from business card size up to 12”X18”.
  • Mounting: Mount projects up to 3’x5’ feet on white or black foam board. Pre-made adhesive boards are available in a variety of sizes. Spray mount, illustration boards, and colored poster board are also available.
  • Personal help: The center staffs student workers available to give basic instruction and suggestions.
  • Photo-quality prints: Choose 4”X6” or 8.5”X11” size photo prints from our six-color Epson photo printer.
  • Pop-up displays: Let us help you create unique portable displays for events, fairs, conferences, and the like. We can order collapsible banner stands and help you to create custom signage that can travel with you.
  • Promotional items: Create your own gifts and giveaways! Make large or small buttons, stickers, or magnets to promote your event or business. Print fabric transfers that will transfer to most clothing items. T-shirts or hats are great to promote your cause, and make good gifts.
  • Specialty papers: Make glossy prints, transparencies, stickers, and CD/DVD labels. We have a full spectrum of colored bond papers available as well as an array of linen papers suitable for résumés.
  • Video and audiotape transfers, and DVD and CD burning: The Graphics Center has equipment to transfer VHS and DV tapes onto DVDs (non-copyrighted works only, please). Preserve home movies or create video presentations for class! Use Apple iMovie to edit your projects. The center also now has the ability to capture and edit audio recordings from tapes and burn them to CDs.
  • Wide-format printing: Create colorful posters and banners up to 60” wide. Choose from a variety of media including poster paper, photo papers, canvas, and banner vinyl.
