Admission
Application Requirements
University graduate and program admissions requirements must be met before an application is complete. Initial application materials must be submitted to the APU Grad Admissions Office by March 1 to allow completion of acceptance prior to the intensive classes in the summer.
You will need:
- Official transcripts
- For students who attended a university in the U.S.: Send transcripts from all institutions leading to and awarding the applicant’s baccalaureate degree and all post-baccalaureate study (to be considered official, a transcript must come directly from the Office of the Registrar of the school attended and sent to the Graduate Center at Azusa Pacific University. Students' sealed copies will not be considered official).
- For students who attended a university outside the U.S.: You are required to provide a Foreign Transcript Evaluation Agencies (PDF) report from one of the agencies approved by APU. Official, original foreign transcripts must be sent to the agency. Transcripts not in English must first be translated and certified. Please request a detailed, comprehensive version of the agency report and have it sent to APU.
- Three recommendation forms submitted by professors or employers who have current knowledge of applicant's academic ability and potential.
- One may be a personal contact, but not a family member
- One- to two-page letter to the dean describing your reason(s) for applying to the program. Also address short- and long-term educational and professional goals as well as career objectives.
- Résumé or Statement of Experience
- A Graduate Application for Admission (Apply Online | Download PDF)
- Minimum baccalaureate or master's grade-point average equivalent to a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (provisional admittance may be granted to individuals who do not meet this criterion if competency can be shown).
If you studied at a non-U.S. university or college, you must also meet one of the following criteria:
- Complete 48 semester units of academic course work (non-ESL at a U.S. school or a school where English is the language of instruction) just prior to application to APU.
- Provide an official letter verifying that English was the language of instruction at the school attended just prior to applying to APU (must have attended two years on a full-time basis [non-ESL]).
- If your two most recent years of university instruction were not conducted entirely in English (not including ESL courses), you must submit an official TOEFL or IELTS score report. The following are the minimum required scores:
- TOEFL iBT minimum scores of 22 speaking, 22 listening, 22 reading, and 24 writing
- TOEFL PBT minimum score of 550 or TOEFL CBT of 213
- Or IELTS minimum score of 7
All materials should be sent to:
