Program Format

The program generally consists of one- or two-week intensive sessions usually held between June and August during which the student enrolls in up to four courses. The intensive sessions are followed by semester-long study projects contracted for each course with professors via the Internet, including email and APU library resources. These projects, like the classes themselves, relate directly to each student’s occupational responsibilities. Students may earn up to 12 units of credit in this manner.

In addition, several courses are offered in a fully online format during the fall and spring terms. Though these courses are open to anyone in the program, the degree cannot be obtained completely online.

Course Completion

Each course taken (registered for) must be completed within one semester. An incomplete should be requested only under extreme circumstances, when your class work has been disrupted due to unforeseen personal health or other special circumstances impairing the ability to complete a course. Students with extensions may be limited in the number of new courses they can begin until the incomplete courses have been finished.

Program Completion

APU graduate students have eight years to complete their programs. To meet this requirement, all Global Leadership classes, including the capstone, must be taken (registered for) within eight years.
