Message from the Chair
We are delighted that you are interested in gaining information about our master’s programs in Organizational Leadership and College Counseling & Student Development. Both represent highly desirable areas of study and employment. And, both are characterized by the need to stay current in the field and adaptive to change.
The M.S. in College Counseling & Student Development is a program with a rich history of nearly 40 years. The balance of theory and practice prepares our graduates for an exciting and ever-changing field of working with today’s college students. This cohort-based program can be completed on site in Azusa in two years of internships and coursework. A second option - a summer-track program for working professionals - brings students to campus for three years of summer intensives (two weeks each), while they continue their campus-based employment across the nation or around the world. For both programs, the culminating capstone experience allows students to synthesize their new knowledge for their professional application - for those new to the field and those seeking professional advancement.
The M.A. in Organizational Leadership provides students a balance of theoretical and practical learning, with particular emphasis on non-profit, educational, and service organizations. In today’s world, employees need to be prepared for a rapidly changing work environment and benefit from learning how to develop their leadership skills. This program provides a curriculum of core courses and then allows students to individualize their emphasis through electives and their final capstone, portfolio, or thesis option. Courses in leading change, ethics, organizational behavior, group and conflict, and personal leadership development are among the many options provided. Students can complete the program in as little as two years, but can also attend on a part-time basis, as they balance their work, community, family, and church responsibilities.
Please let us know how we can assist you as you being this exciting journey of graduate education!
Blessings,
Anita Fitzgerald Henck, Ph.D.
