Exercise Science Degree
Note: Starting in fall 2017, this program will be called Kinesiology.
APU’s Bachelor of Science in Applied Exercise Science prepares students to design and implement fitness and exercise programs that will help clients meet their goals and improve their quality of life. Exercise science majors gain comprehensive foundational knowledge in anatomy and physiology, the science of human movement, exercise physiology, performance enhancement, health promotion, and exercise prescription.
This serves as a framework for in-depth study of kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, health care administration, and principles of human performance and corrective exercise. Students take advantage of internships under the direction of exercise science professionals and gain hands-on learning from professional contacts in the field, and prepare to take professional certification exams through organizations such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine upon graduation.
