About the Program

Why This Major Is Relevant

With childhood obesity on the rise and sedentary entertainment the norm, increased attention is being paid to the role of health education in schools. As a result, physical education teachers can anticipate increased support from parents, administrators, and the government. Additionally, as more Baby Boomers enter retirement communities over the next decade, demand is increasing for qualified physical education personnel with an interest in working with the elderly. APU’s physical education degree uniquely positions graduates to benefit from these trends, and they can look forward to plentiful job opportunities as a result.

Gain In-Depth Learning Experiences

Recommended service learning internships provide physical education majors with practical opportunities to apply classroom learning. APU physical education faculty remain connected in the field, and often provide internship contacts for students. Internship opportunities often result in contacts in the field and ensure that physical education majors graduate with relevant experience on their résumés.
