Profile
Beth Houskamp, Ph.D. is currently the Director of Pediatric Interdisciplinary Research and Practice at Azusa Pacific University. Her primary research interests includes sensory processing and neurodevelopmental disabilities in children, social and emotional needs of gifted children, school intervention programs, pediatric trauma and abuse, and diversity issues in assessment and treatment. In addition to her published work and presentations at scientific conferences, Dr. Houskamp has given numerous professional presentations to professional trainings for graduate students in training, administrators and teachers in Head Start programs, educators, medical staff, and other professional groups. Her clinical practice, research, and teaching focus on developing interdisciplinary systemic approaches to treatment and program development. Her most recent presentations and publications address sensory processing in young children, the experiences of parents of gifted children of color, family stress and trauma in the lives of children, and the function of spirituality as a coping mechanism in the lives of children and adolescents.
