Following a "first career" as a high school social studies teacher, Dr. Sheridan entered the world of college student development at Texas Christian University nearly 30 years ago were he served as a residence hall director while pursuing both a master's and doctorate in Christian education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Upon completion of the doctorate, he became Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students at California Baptist University. After 10 years in that role, and upon the completion of his Ph.D. from UCLA in higher education and organizational change, he moved to APU as a faculty member, program director, and department chair. At APU, he helped expand the master's program in College Student Affairs and helped develop the doctoral program in higher education leadership. In 2006 he became director of the doctoral program in higher educaion leadership at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
