Profile
Victor Santa Cruz has been involved in education and youth work for more than eight years. In that time, he has taught at the college and high school levels. Santa Cruz draws from his extensive work experience in private business, full-time ministry, and coaching. As the Southern California team sales director for the Sport Supply Group, he worked with physical education programs at the government, college, high school, and elementary schools levels, identifying and supplying their equipment needs. From 1999-2001 he served as the San Diego County director for the fellowship of christian athletes, where he was given charge over the San Diego County program development, fundraising, grant writing, and all summer camp logistics. Santa Cruz is an accomplished public speaker, founding the motivational outreach program Vision 4 Victory in 1997. V4V is a half-hour junior high and high school speaking program that has served private and public schools in California, Arizona, and Hawaii. Now in his ninth year of coaching football, his ability to communicate has enhanced his on-field teaching duties. Since arriving at APU in 2001, he has served in the roles of offensive and defensive coordinator. In addition, his coaching duties include the job of strength and conditioning coach. Santa Cruz holds a certification from USA Weightlifting, identifying his ability to instruct Olympic lifts. He has been instrumental in developing the strength and conditioning curriculum for the football program, which has decreased joint injuries by 20 percent. Other areas of service include camp director for Azusa Pacific’s week-long youth football camp, which serves local San Gabriel Valley fourth-eighth grade students, and committee member for the NAIA assistant football coaches committee.
