Plug In!

Have you ever noticed how when your laptop battery is draining, your monitor gets dimmer? You try to sneak in just one more task before it dies. You work quickly cramming it in – a race against time and the battery. Eventually it empties completely and the screen darkens as it shuts off. It’s done. You tried one too many things and it can’t do any more. Energy gone – caput! But if you catch it in time, and plug it in, all of a sudden it’s like new. The screen brightens considerably and instead of straining, you can see clearly the bright, clear, strong images. New energy, vibrant, alive, strong. And your work pace evens out – not so rushed or intense. Not so pressured or scurried. You know there is lots of power and you know that the source will not run out. You may succeed in energizing your life and schedule on your own reserves for a while. But you can tell when it’s running low. A bit of panic creeps in and you intensify your effort to cram more in – Hurry up, before the weekend! Just a little more. Be careful. You are not an unlimited resource. But God is. Integrating your every day, every moment with a greater element of Christ in you brightens your screen, energizes your life. It sustains you with an unlimited resource that allows you to even out your life, and be less stressed and more thoughtful. Jesus does that – brings abundant, sustainable life. Plug in.
