The Cougar Countdown: Day 14

DAY 14 (Aug. 14): Connecting With The @APUCougars

Twenty years ago, fans of Azusa Pacific Athletics needed to pick up the newspaper or the telephone the morning after a game to find out how the Cougars did. Over time, that process evolved into checking the Cougar Athletics website for the latest news and scores.

Today, Azusa Pacific continues to connect with fans through its rapidly-growing presence in social media. In January of 2009, Cougar Athletics sent out its first tweet:

This year, the APUCougars Twitter feed serves to provide time-sensitive scores and news updates. The first place to find a final score update from every game involving Cougar Athletics is @APUCougars, and Twitter also serves as the primary notification tool for breaking news in the world of Cougar Athletics.

Last summer, Cougar Athletics enhanced its social media presence with the official Azusa Pacific Athletics fan page:

The Azusa Pacific Athletics Facebook fan page currently has approximately 700 likes from 15 different countries, and Facebook provides a convenient place for Azusa Pacific Athletics to interact with followers, share interesting facts and stories, and promote some of the best photos and videos related to the Cougar Athletics program.

This week featured the launch of yet another way for fans to connect with the Cougars with the launch of the official APUCougars Instagram photo feed, which so far includes exclusive photos of the 2012 Directors’ Cup trophy, the brand-new soccer field lights, and the freshly-remodeled weight room.

The APUCougars Instagram photo feed will provide fans with a unique visual representations of Azusa Pacific Athletics throughout the year.

As always, the Cougar Athletics website continues to provide detailed coverage of every Azusa Pacific sports team, including rosters, schedules, statistics, photos, and news stories about each of the teams.
