Zombie Invasion Documentation part 2

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Its been a tough couple of days.
as of now there are 189 Zombies and 218 humans.
I am still a human…
or so I think…
I haven’t slept much.
I was listening to Dead Air last night (KAPU Radio (our School Radio station) was taken over by Zombies and from 10 to 2 am, they just talked about the game.) just to get some information on what is going on.
My own personal experiences so far has been a little less crazy.
I had to stun my friend Dianne yesterday as she attacked me on my way to work with a thirst and hunger for brains and flesh.
I’ve also be harboring a few fellow humans, seeing as how my living area is a safe zone. Its been like a mini slumber party.

Except for the howling in the middle of the night.

On my way to class just now, I was actually chased… no contest, but I still risked scuffing up my new Chucks…

Who knows what the rest of the week will hold. I just hope I can survive it long enough to see the end.

May 9th, 2010
8:59am
I’m safe for now…
But for how long…
The transmission was sent out last night…
What we feared would happen…has.
The Zombies have risen, and at the moment, I cannot tell them apart from the humans…
Its scary.
Really Scary…
There has been only one form of resistance created at this point, the stun bomb. For some reason cotton causes them to loose their contagiousness for about 15 minutes.

…but is that long enough to get away?

Explanation:
So, we have started the second annual all school game of Humans Vs. Zombies.
The rules.
Everyone starts out as a human (you can tell by a bandanna around your arm)
There is one zombie. (Zombies have bandanna’s around their head…except this one, he is hidden amongst the rest of us.)
If he tags you, you give him your code (gotten from Dormwire.com) and you yourself become a zombie and if you don’t feed on a human in 48 hours, you are out of the game.
If you throw a sock at a zombie coming after you, they can’t attack for 15 minutes, time for you to get away.

Its going to be an intense week.

Masquerade

Masquerade! Paper Faces on Parade!

We had an absolutely AMAZING event a couple of days ago, here’s how it went down…

The Planning:

We were sitting in Michelle’s living room and we were coming up with something to do for the big 7 event for this semester. Someone mentioned “We Should have a Masquerade!” and we all went with it, evolving a whole thread into it relating to be yourself and how everyone walks around with a social “Mask” and that we need to learn to take off the mask and be real with one another.

The First Date:

We went and surveyed the new Wynn Amphitheater and came up with a layout and it was all going to be perfect!

The Cancellation:

It came down to the day we were going to have the event and who decided to crash APU… EL NIñO! (jerk…)

I sent a message to everyone telling them it was canceled… it was a sad message to write… so I had to make it creative…

“Dear Rain,
I appreciate you so much, however… You have made it not at all possible to have a masquerade. With you around, it is awkward to dress up, because, lets face it, you are a little rough on most fabrics, nothing against your character, its just something you might want to think about next time you decide you want to crash our party. Not only is it hard to dress up around you, but it is also very difficult to learn how to dance, or play music. You are a little too grumpy. You should seek counseling, (you get 10 free sessions at the Counseling Center, Just FWI)

So, to make it fair for everyone, we will have to un-invite you. I apologize if this in any way hurts your feelings, but just so you aren’t looking out your window knowing that we are all having fun, the event will be moved to another date that you don’t know and you wont feel like you are missing anything.

Fair?

Faithfully Yours,
University V. West

(Event Postponed. New Date will be presented when we come up with one, it is in the works. Don’t tell Rain.)”

The Reschedule:

Dear all non-water based life forms of APU,

As you have seen, we have had to postpone the Masquerade because of a certain unfortunate individual. (for those of you concerned about the Rain’s feelings, please let us know, we have a card for him and a gift certificate to Game Works… in Seattle. You are all welcome to sign it.)

We have postponed the date to… wait for it…

FEBRUARY 27th! Yes, it is a Saturday (or SaTAUURURDAY for all you pirates from the Cruise on Halloween.)

Now, you may have noticed, this is a long ways away, almost forever (if you think of time in the form of a toddler.) but this means that you have time to get/make a REALLY COOL MASK!!! You should all bug your RA’s to make them with you, have an event, it could be TONS of fun!

Happy Mask Making!

Cheers!

Regards,
University V. West

PS: do NOT tell the Rain when we have rescheduled to! This is a SECRET!

Finally… the EVENT

On the week of the event, we realized that the Rain was being a little Jerk Face and decided to come crash again, but we weren’t going to give in. I went into an intense battle with the rain, however… he won… Soooooo… we moved the event inside and casted a few magical charms on UTCC to repel him and Viola, the event HAPPENED!

The event went over SO well! We had picture taking, Mask Making, Prayer Walking, Speed Dating, and of course, a STRING QUINTET (who did AMAZINGLY) and there were dance instructors and all! It was a very well executed event! Just like a Ball!

And So the Track Season Begins

Monday, February 15th, 2010

It has been about a month since Track season started for APU.

Trying to figure out how to blog about the meets without seeming like I’m bragging or whatever has been a challenge that has been swimming and swimming around my head.

For those of you who don’t know, I am the Jump Captain for our Track team here at APU. My events are the High Jump, Long Jump, and quite recently… the Heptathlon… but we will get there later.

Meet one:

Since I was planning to be at a Staff Retreat in Palm Springs the next day, I needed to compete the day before, so, I decided to do the first half of the Hep which is the 60 meter Dash, Long Jump, Shot Put, and High Jump.

60m Dash went well, got 3rd in my Heat.

Long Jump went well, only one to jump passed 7 meters, and I qualified for Nationals.

Shot Put… Fouled out.

High Jump… well, I jumped 2.14 (7 1/4ft) which is the first time I have done it officially, making me one of only 4 jumpers in APU history to jump over 7 feet and bumped my APU record to 3rd Highest jumper to ever attend our University. At the end of the day, I was really happy with my performance.

Meet 2:

Fresno State. Not a happy meet for me. I spoke to my Psychology of Personality professor the next week about it, and how it relates to Adler’s theories on Superiority and how some people need things to be perfect and are not happy with average results and I definitely began to realize that I am a bit of an over achiever… oh well.

I Long Jumped only 6.80m or so and High jumped 6’8. Unacceptable by my standards, but the conditions for the High Jump was as Hugh Grant would say “Utter Rubbish”

Meet 3:

Somehow my coach talked me into doing a complete Heptathlon. I am still not recovered from it and my whole body hurts, but somehow I ended up winning.

Score: 4883!

Now, I have a huge decision resting on my shoulders. Since I definitely qualified in the Hep, do I do this event at nationals, seeing as how Day 2 will end at the same time as the open high jump and right after will be the open Long Jump. If I feel anything close to how I’m feeling now, I’m not sure I’ll be able to do well in either of those… however, I have heard Tell that it HAS been done before… I have only a short while to make the decision… maybe it will be easier to decided when every sneeze doesn’t make my body want to fall apart.

Videos to come.

Another week into the present…

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

First day of the new semester!

My clothes are lain out nicely.

The clock strikes 6:15 and yells at me to wake up.

I roll out of bed, ninja style of course (the whole reason for having my bed on the floor) and Karate chop it to shut up!

What… woozy… I sit back down.

Sore throat…

Why won’t air move through my nose…

Oh no… I’m sick, for the 3rd day in a row. I thought I had nixed this. I took nyquil all week!

Welp, not time to dwell on that.

15 minutes later, I’m out the door and on the way to the weight room.

I lift.

I get dressed for class.

I leave my car on west and trolly over to East for class.

Psych of Personality. Looks fun! Hi Amanda, Hi Pera, Hi Mike! I know three people in here!

I get back on the trolly. CHAPEL! Hi Terry Franson!

Next Class, Intermediate Algebra! Booooo! Oh well, had to take a Math class at some point…

*Pause!*

OK, so a word to the wise, TAKE YOUR MATH CLASS EARLY! Even if your last class was geometry and it was Sophomore year of high school, you are still more in tune with Math than you think and it can only get worse! TAKE YOUR MATH CLASS EARLY! DON’T WAIT TILL YOUR SENIOR YEAR!

*Resume*

Its noon! Practice in an hour. Drive back to my apt, and walk over to the track.

First practice equals: HILLS*!!!

*The hills workout is where we head up Grand Avenue into a residential area who’s streets are, you guessed it, on a hill. We run up, we walk down, we run farther, we walk down, we run faster, we walk down, we do this over and over according to how hard the workout is for that day. It can be one of the most grueling workouts on the APU Track and Field Team, complete with throwing up in gutters on occasion.

We are done by 3:30pm. Dinner! I head to the Den! Mmmm, Western Burger!

4:15pm now, Time for Abnormal Psych Class. Hi Mandy, Hi Quesso (Formerly Known as Alyssa), Hi Jonathan. This should be a fun class too!

1.5 hours pass. Class is over! time for work!

I head into the office! EXPLOSION! EVERYONE GOT A NEW COMPUTER OR XBOX OR PS3 FOR CHRISTMAS! Oh my gosh! This is insane! So much to do!

I stay till 9.

Time for Senior Chapel.

What… we are playing Board games? Way to end a long day!

New episode of Legend Of the Seeker was last night! Karl and Blair want to watch. So do I… I’m tired though… but, its only 10…

LETS DO IT!

11pm. Time for bed.

6:15, the Alarm goes off. WHAT! but.. but.. but… why?

The rest of the week was not as bad, it got easier, being sick did not help as much, but 11 days later, and only my throat is irritated, so we are off to an almost cured Staphon.

Its interesting every new semester, how long it takes to get acclimated to a new schedule. It takes about 2 weeks to get used to in my experience. No one really know’s their Professors, everyone is figuring out routes to get around the day, strategies, but thats what’s fun, at least for me, who’s strength is strategy.

Lets see what this week has in store for me!

…Is that El Niño!?

TO BE CONTINUED…
