Guidelines
The APU Blogs allow you to post content on the university’s public site, which anyone can access online. So before you publish, get familiar with the content guidelines below. We trust that you’ll take great care in using this tool.
Rules of Thumb
- Be thoughtful and accurate with your content. Report the facts or reflect on an experience, and stay on topic.
- Be honest and authentic. Write about what you know and feel comfortable discussing.
- Write in the first person, identifying yourself and the people you are talking about. Provide readers with some context for what you are writing.
- Be consistent with your blogs. Stay up-to-date and aim to have a consistent posting schedule.
- Spell check and proofread before you publish your posts.
Content Policies
The APU Blogs are another venue for our community to promote the university with God-honoring excellence. As such, all content (e.g., writing, photos, videos, etc.) on the APU website is subject to the following policies:
- Respect and know your audience. In keeping with APU’s core identity and positional statements, do not slander others, “pick fights,” or use:
- Defamatory, abusive, or harassing material
- Offensive language, including insults or inappropriate slang
- Pornographic material
- Sexist or racist material
- Protect the confidentiality of yourself and those you write about. Avoid posting sensitive information or personal data (e.g., last names of students, phone numbers, addresses).
- Respect copyright laws, and do not using any material (e.g., copy, images, music, etc.) without the author’s or publisher’s written permission.
