Masquerade! Paper Faces on Parade!
We had an absolutely AMAZING event a couple of days ago, here’s how it went down…
The Planning:
We were sitting in Michelle’s living room and we were coming up with something to do for the big 7 event for this semester. Someone mentioned “We Should have a Masquerade!” and we all went with it, evolving a whole thread into it relating to be yourself and how everyone walks around with a social “Mask” and that we need to learn to take off the mask and be real with one another.
The First Date:
We went and surveyed the new Wynn Amphitheater and came up with a layout and it was all going to be perfect!
The Cancellation:
It came down to the day we were going to have the event and who decided to crash APU… EL NIñO! (jerk…)
I sent a message to everyone telling them it was canceled… it was a sad message to write… so I had to make it creative…
“Dear Rain,
I appreciate you so much, however… You have made it not at all possible to have a masquerade. With you around, it is awkward to dress up, because, lets face it, you are a little rough on most fabrics, nothing against your character, its just something you might want to think about next time you decide you want to crash our party. Not only is it hard to dress up around you, but it is also very difficult to learn how to dance, or play music. You are a little too grumpy. You should seek counseling, (you get 10 free sessions at the Counseling Center, Just FWI)So, to make it fair for everyone, we will have to un-invite you. I apologize if this in any way hurts your feelings, but just so you aren’t looking out your window knowing that we are all having fun, the event will be moved to another date that you don’t know and you wont feel like you are missing anything.

The Reschedule:
Dear all non-water based life forms of APU,
As you have seen, we have had to postpone the Masquerade because of a certain unfortunate individual. (for those of you concerned about the Rain’s feelings, please let us know, we have a card for him and a gift certificate to Game Works… in Seattle. You are all welcome to sign it.)
We have postponed the date to… wait for it…
FEBRUARY 27th! Yes, it is a Saturday (or SaTAUURURDAY for all you pirates from the Cruise on Halloween.)
Now, you may have noticed, this is a long ways away, almost forever (if you think of time in the form of a toddler.) but this means that you have time to get/make a REALLY COOL MASK!!! You should all bug your RA’s to make them with you, have an event, it could be TONS of fun!

Finally… the EVENT
On the week of the event, we realized that the Rain was being a little Jerk Face and decided to come crash again, but we weren’t going to give in. I went into an intense battle with the rain, however… he won… Soooooo… we moved the event inside and casted a few magical charms on UTCC to repel him and Viola, the event HAPPENED!
The event went over SO well! We had picture taking, Mask Making, Prayer Walking, Speed Dating, and of course, a STRING QUINTET (who did AMAZINGLY) and there were dance instructors and all! It was a very well executed event! Just like a Ball!
