Next weeks marks finals week, and the last week of my freshmen year of college. The days keep going by faster and as much as I am excited for what next year and my entire future will look like, I find myself wishing time would somehow go by slower.

So here marks my freshmen year in a nutshell:

So excited to be moving into my new home!

Move-In day almost felt like it was straight out of a Hilary Duff movie (and I love Hilary Duff movies). Absolute madness, but one of the best days of my life. My stuff was moved in in no time and meeting my roommate was priceless.

You wait 18 years to finally move out and be an “adult” and then you go back to dressing like a little kid again.

A few weeks ago we had an amazing event called “broomball” where South Side of Trinity dressed up as little kids “school kids” and the North Side of Trinity dressed up as the elderly “retirement” and we faced off in a game of broomball (hitting around multiple balls on an ice skating rink with regular shoes on trying to get it into a goal). In case you were wondering, OF COURSE South Side won! WOOOOO

It was yet another amazing night of being with the girls on my hall and all the people living in the Trinity Dorm. I can’t put into words how much fun freshmen year is (I am trying to compensate with pictures cause they are worth a thousand words, right?)

1. It is really easy to make friends. The major difference between Azusa Pacific and other schools I looked into before applying to colleges is the people. If you try and sit alone at lunch, someone WILL come up to you and ask to sit with you. You have to really make a conscious effort to be lonely and bored. People are always surrounding you and they are the friendliest group of college students you’ll probably ever come across. Stressing out before getting to APU about friendships is unnecessary. All the freshmen are in the same boat, you will make friends faster then you can snap your fingers! Spend some alone time before coming to college… cause it might be a while before you get that again.

In a few days, it will mark the one month point of living here at APU. Its surreal how fast time has already flown by, and as much as it’s strange adjusting to life somewhere other then at “home,” my new home here at APU is remarkable. I have the privilege of living in Trinity Hall, and I have to say that it is nothing like I ever imagined. In a good way. I don’t think you can ever prepare for the ‘amazingness’ that is college life. Being able to live in a hall with 40+ SISTERS is more fun then I could ever put into words.

Hey! Well my name is Hannah Gregerson, and my experience at APU so far has been nothing but amazing. As the year goes on, I hope to share my experiences as a student here with you!

There are so many good things I could write about APU, I’m having a hard time figuring out how to start! I guess I could start with a little background about myself and how I ended up here. I was born and raised in Visalia, CA. I’m a sophomore this year, majoring in nursing. I have a younger sister who’s a senior this year, and a younger brother who is in 6th grade. My dad is an elementary school teacher, and my mom is a pediatric physical therapist. I graduated from El Diamante High school in 2009, and haven’t missed it since I set foot on APU’s campus.

Ahh! It’s been such a busy semester! My unit load is the same, but my classes are harder this semester. Harder doesn’t necessarily mean bad though, all of my classes are interesting. I decided I’d rather take classes that are a little bit harder where I learn a lot than take super easy classes where everything is simple and irrelevant. Some days I feel like I regret this decision, but in the end I know it’s going to be way more beneficial.

This is especially true for my Christian Life, Faith, and Ministries class. ‘CLFM’ is a required bible class for all undergrad students. My professor warned us the first day of class to drop if we weren’t going to take it seriously and actually do the work. And he repeated that frequently. I’m so glad I stayed though! ‘CLFM’ doesn’t always have the best reputation because it’s a required class, but it really depends on the teacher. Mine makes the class so interesting! Actually, fellow blogger Ellie recommended the class to me :). I know I couldn’t do it justice by talking about everything we are learning about. Let’s just say the class is an hour and half long and I’ll think only 45 minutes have gone by. That is so much better than my three hour classes :).

Hey there readers, J.P here again! It’s about 11:00 PM right now, and I just came back from the APU Men’s Soccer game against Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California, which is only about an hour away from the High Sierra campus, which is in Bass Lake for those who don’t already know. Our soccer guys did amazing and we won 2-0!!!

The crowd was obviously full of Fresno students, but me and the other 7-9 High Sierra students still did some APU cheers like “You wish you were a Cougar! Azu!! Za!!! Azu!!! Za!!!” We got a couple of stares from the Fresno students, but we didn’t care. We love our college!

Click here to view the embedded video.

This is Karissa and Purple (Michelle) singing at an event called ‘Color the Night.’

Color the Night was an event to show APU creativity through student artwork and music . It was fun to see APU students play fun music and see all the beautiful artwork. :)

The next video has a story behind it.

Smith (the all guy hall) started dressing up for family/hall dinners. Family/Hall Dinner is where you eat with your entire hall in the Dinning Hall. Not only do you dress up as the theme, you are supposed to act the part. I believe the first theme for the Smith hall was Egyptians but it’s since been sheep, beggars, and other crazy ideas. Trinity 1st South has been waiters and first graders. Trinity 4th North have been really funny nerds and babies.

Hey there guys!! J.P here again with a few words of wisdom!

Well in case you didn’t already know, I’m a freshman here at Azusa Pacific University. Ironically, I’m not on the campus (The campus is pretty dope!), I’m at the semester long program called “High Sierra” where we study in the mountains and get to do outdoors-y stuff like go on a 6 day trek in Yosemite (We leave this Thursday which means no school for 6 days! hah)

Here’s a picture of the 23 students and teachers/mentors/friends here at the High Sierra program. It’s an amazing community:

You can thank my fellow 3rd North sisters for the title of this blog. Can’t you tell we are freshman? We apparently haven’t learned the art of spelling. There are currently 5 of us watching Pride and Prejudice with girls popping in and talking. Actually, we are barely watching the movie and mostly talking. I love it.

Orientation was pretty crazy. It was a bit stressful, really interesting, but mostly overwhelming for me. Which isn’t true for everyone, some kids had no problem with it all. Overwhelming isn’t also a bad thing though, Orientation is guaranteed slight chaos anywhere you go I think. But this chaos was actually quite organized; APU has an impressive schedule that they stuck to. There was so much to do! There always was a friendly face to help us out though. The events were really cool including a football game!
