fallon
if you have read my previous blogs than you have already been introduced to my wonderful roommate fallon. fallon is slightly ridiculous and that is why we get along very well.
fallon is a communications major here at apu. she also is a member of the Kaleo S.A.L.T team which is a group of students that take on leadership responsibilities regarding our Kaleo chapel. her input, dedication, and prayer are surely appreciated by the group.
fallon and i are also co-leaders of a D-Group (discipleship group) of 5 lovely freshman ladies. we have so much fun with this. every week the girls come over to our apartment and we spend a few hours in prayer, discussion, fellowship, and just laughing about all the ridiculous things that have happened the previous week on campus. i am so blessed to have fallon as a co-leader and to have the opportunity to lead a D-Group with her.
fallon and i have a few very important aspects of our friendship. one of these is reality TV. yea, i admit it. we love the bachelor and the hills. we also love grocery shopping but only if we go down every single aisle. and making cookies and brownies.
fallon goes to the gym more than me. i should follow her lead.
fallon takes the longest showers known to mankind. it's very bizarre.
and... fallon has an amazing family that she is very dedicated to. she has four younger brothers and is a great big sister. her littlest brother is named joshua and he sends her pictures he draws for her in elementary school. it's great. oh and fallon's dad is awesome.
yesterday fallon and i saw two sweet old ladies sitting together at a table eating lunch, just chatting away, to which fallon responds, "that will be us."
indeed.
the first of roommate profiles
mols.
molly is a spunky little nursing major. the dedication and passion in which she does her work leaves me in awe. she spends more time studying than any other person i know and yet, it has paid off because she also happens to be one of the most knowledgable people i know. i love hearing molly talk about what she is learning even if she is just rattling off in preparation for a test. it excites me that she will one day use this knowledge to help little children. its beautiful.
mols has an adorable boyfriend named tyler who lives in oregon. we were able to hang out with him a little bit before he had to go back to school and it was a great time. we all miss him and it is fun to watch him and molly's distance relationship in which they send each other sweet packages in the mail. it's cute.
mols is also my bungy softball companion. she plays pitcher, i play second base, and as i said in our last blog we dominate and are undefeated! molly also contributes much intimidation as she wears ridiculous easton sunglasses. too funny.
mols and i watch a lot of movies together, frequent chipotle, and love to sing. we actually just did a rendition of "i will always love you" for our friend justin. he liked it, we loved it, a sunday morning at its best.
undefeated
this weekend was epic. my intramural softball team, the undefeated "Bungy's" took on a solid team saturday morning on the soccer field. the Bungy's having not yet recovered from a late friday night spent dancing at the 2007 Space Odyssey extravaganza (a costume fashon show/get-together hosted by members of the Bungy's at thier humble abode, the Bungalo) were a little bit rusty as they hit the field. by the 3rd inning it looked as if the Bungy's hope of a perfect season was slowly slipping away. after the other team scored three runs off an inside the park homerun, the damage had been done, or so we thought. however, after a rally in the 4th and two flawless defensive innings the game finished with the Bungy's winning 6-5. too close for comfort but the undeafted season was still intact.
my roommate molly and i then traveled to Costco for a post-victory shopping session, in which our spirits were so high we bought giant sunflowers for the apartment.
the driving force behind our success this season has been molly's quote in the school paper saying, "We're going to the championship." since then we have had to work extrememly hard to keep her from eating her words. for us though, intramurals is more than a game, its essential to our lives as i explained in my quote in the school paper, "it gets us up on Saturday mornings when normally we would just sleep all day."
bob dylan day.
today was a rare experience, it was bob dylan day in film class. this means we dedicated an hour and a half to the intense study of the life of one beautiful and talented man. if you do not know much about bob dylan than shame on you, not really, but he is quite a song writer and though whether or not he is a good singer can most definitely be debated, i think his voice is nice, lovely in fact.
odds and ends
odds and ends
lost time is not found again.
don't you just wish you could live in the sixties? maybe not. maybe so. but it is incredible to learn about the time period and people like bob. i don't really know why i am sharing this with you, i guess i just got compelled to do so because if you want to know me, you need to know that i love music. and i am just on a kick seeing that today was dylan day and two nights ago i saw coner oberst play at the hollywood bowl and i still am in shock. he is a lyrical master as well. slightly less approachable than bob dylan but equallying intriguing. when you come here, if you do, seek out the world of music. there is so much culture surrounding you in LA. go to a concert at the hollywood bowl. take a class from mark eaton, he's passionate about the musical greats, go to a local show, i dont know. that is just my advice.
and since my roommate fallon has probably never heard a bob dylan song in her life, i should get off that subject and talk about something that relates to her since she wants to be mentioned in my blog.
fallon is from oregon. a real beauty. has quite a unique and yet at times overbearing laugh. its her trademark. she is a comm major. for some reason fallon always finds herself in awkward situations on campus. for instance, fallon apparently looks just like a freshman and people like to mistake her for this other girl, usually from the other side of campus, to which they yell, loudly, the wrong name at her. or the other day, fallon is walking across the flashing crosswalk, which you will come to know and love here at apu, and she gets hit with a water balloon by some boys who will remain nameless. poor girl.
fallon and i have good times though, we often go grocery shopping which consists of taking a trip down every single isle in the store, trust me, it's necessary. we try and eat healthy and only buy things on sale. the problem is that when we get back to our apartment we have to walk a ways to our door once we park the car and so every week we trek across the complex carrying about 95 grocery bags, complaining the whole way how much it hurts our arms. no boys ever help. we don't know why.
the end.
