Shire Events Calendar
WOW! LIfe has been crazy in the Shire Modulars lately! This isn't a typical calendar of events (it's been especially busy in the Shire but these events don't even include everything else that happens on campus outside of our living area), but I just thought some of you might appreciate knowing what some of the events are like. Residents pick and choose what they want to go to, ranging from our court bowling, to community worship, to an all campus Christmas festival, to a Get Your Roommate A Date night!
Turn the Other Cheek
Friday night, a couple friends and I watched what is now my favorite movie: Les Miserables. I can’t believe how beautifully they portrayed what true Christianity should look like. It was absolutely inspirational! It depicted the legalistic nature in which some people can get easily enslaved in and contrasted it with the revolutionary love of Christ. The whole movie made me think of how revolutionary it is to love our enemies and literally "turn the other cheek". It related to the message Francis Chan gave at our chapel this past week. A statement he said that really stuck with me was that true Christianity is not revealed in our love for those who are easy to love, but the mark of Christians is their love for their enemies. Our university president had a similar message in the chapel right before Francis Chan: love surpasses the circumstances we’re in, it is a choice to love even under the most difficult of conditions. You can download these chapels if you want to get a taste of what I’m talking about: http://www.apu.edu/chapel/calendar/fall/
Holla...ween!
I must say, HOLLA-WEEN was so fun! RezLife put together a legit party with a bounce house, a caricature artist, cotton candy, games, etc. for Hollaween, a big success!
