Aloha bruddahs and sistas!

Ok, so I’m graduating tomorrow…sounds pretty cool, ya? It actually really stinks. I mean, it is so cool to be done and moving on to this next stage of life where I am actually making money and not losing money (well, it was lost a while ago, now I’m just losing loaned money--J), but APU is so amazingly rad! It’s my home. These people here are my community of brothers and sisters! In addition, I’m one of those “lucky” people to graduate a semester early, but by graduating in December, I’m also one of those guys that just ends up disappearing. People start saying “What ever happen to that Jordan Kid?” and then the other says “I dunno, I think he might of got drafted by the Army?” and then the first one says “Drafted? Are they doing that now?” and the other says “I dunno, let’s go to the library and google it.” Soooooo, what happened in this conversation: Jordan got lost in space!!! Fortunately, I have been strategically trying to fight against this!

First, I realized, nobody can forget me if I incessantly call and write them: That’s why there is power in an address book! Yeuh! So, at the beginning of the semester I went to Target and got an address book. Which, by the way—are all girly! I mean, I went to the store, looking to get something with like a bunch of leather and metal and maybe an engraving of Mr. T on the front saying “Get some addresses, FOOL!”, but all they had were books with, like, babies dressed like ladybugs and stuff with a lot of swoopy lettering. C’mon, where the masculine market! We need addresses book that like, when you open it, Pearl Jam plays or something. Anyways, ended getting like this blue and brown one, which is not so bad. So, I have been going around like a madman these last two weeks getting people to fill in their contact info, so that I can like call them when they’re 80 and say “Hey man! You remember when we released 1000 crickets in Trinity 2nd South? That was funny, huh?” and then he’d say “Yeah.” With this address book, I will hold onto to these friends! Right’on!

The second thing I’m doing to not disintegrate from this society of awesomeness is that I’m trying to get a job here. Don’t know if you remember, but I am planning on spending my life working in a college. (Which, this week has also been hectic trying to get a bunch or recommendations written, getting transcripts, etc. for grad school.) Anyways, what better way to not disappear than to not leave! You know what I’m sayin? And no, I do not have separation anxiety from APU…ok, maybe just a little bit. There are a couple jobs that I’ve looked into, but there is one that I really am kind of hoping works out for me, because it something I’m passionate about and would love to do. So we’ll see what happens…whether I get a job here or not is kind of a factor for a lot of others things I need to figure out for post-college life. So, you can pray for me in that if you’d like. Don’t know if I’m allowed to do this, but hey, can’t get kicked out of school, I’m already out: If any APU people are reading this, I love this school and would love to donate my time and gifts into giving back to it!

The last thing that I am doing to “remain” is by imagining a future in which I can give back to my alma mater. Who knows what is going to happen in my future, but whether I’ll come back to work for APU or not, I definitely do want to give back to this school throughout my life. For all you prospective students, this school has the potential to really sink into your heart. It is lead and run by some amazing people. I have had the chance to hang out and talk with Jon Wallace (APU’s President) and many other campus leaders here and they are incredible, Godly men and women that truly are leading this school according to our motto “God First!”

These are the things that I am going to do to stay connected here at APU………….okay, well, to be honest, I’ll probably be up here all the time, possibly even still living up here, because Alex (my fiancée) is here. I’ll probably come up here all the time and crash on my roommates’ couch. So, I’m not, actually, that worried. Though, I still am bummed to not be a student anymore! One nice thing to think about, is, the fact that if I’m living at home—there is food in the fridge! YA! That is a luxury that is not as common here. Or, there is food in the fridge, but it’s been in there since like day one and now it has like legs and feet and every time you open the fridge it tries to run out—plus it reeks! I’m telling you guys, if you’re living at home, thank your parents for the fact that there is food in the fridge. Thank God for food as well—it is a blessing; much of the world worries about where their next meal will come from! Be thankful!

Anyways, I hope this is not my last blog, I’d like to keep blogging after I graduate, to give you a picture of what post-APU life is like, but if it is, I hope this last thought of the week is a good one: “If you run into the wind and you notice that your hair is blowing forward, you must not be running into the wind…or you’re in a tornado and if that’s the case, well, that sucks.” Thanks y’all! God Bless!
