Alpha Blessings!

Monday, March 10, 2008, 4:10 p.m.
Mid-Terms are over! lol. Spring break is right around the corner! Could this be any better!? Can the Lord bless me any more!? O yea! I found out that I made the dean's list and I've been accepted to be an Alpha Leader!

I just noticed right now that I didn't write about my alpha group at all last semester :-( my apologies and I'm so surprised I didn't. Just because it's such a big part of first semester. I'll give ya a lil' brief summary of my experience and my alpha group!

So right when I finished that last sentence I went and looked for some alpha group pictures and got a lil' emotional lol. It was just such a fun experience when I look back on it! I had a great alpha leader! One of those genuine people. Nick never faked his interest in what we had to say. He sincerely cared about all of us and our transition into college. The purpose of the alpha program is to essentially help freshmen transition into their first year in college, allow for new friendships to develop as well. I met people that I probably would've never gotten a chance to get to know. Not because they aren't great people but just because so far I haven't really had any of them in my classes or had a chance to kick it with them outside of alpha.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to be an alpha leader next year! haha i'm so excited! Maybe I'll have you in my alpha group next year! I get so excited just thinking about it. Not only do I get to have the honor of being the alpha leader of incoming freshmen, but I get to meet more and more other alpha leaders! Yet again, another opportunity to expand my horizons and build more friendships. That was one of the mistakes I made in high school. Even though I LOVED my high school experience, I regretted waiting til' the last minute to expand my group of friends. My senior year was the best just because I knew so many more people. I want all 4 years of college to be like my senior year in high school.

APU has such a wide range of student personalities and it's such a rich environment to learn so much. I can't wait til next year when I get to do all that! I can't wait to go on Bridges, which is a training experience for alpha leaders where we get to go to San Francisco. I think. They try to keep it a surprise and no one will tell me lol.

APU is just one of those places where anyone has the opportunity to make a difference. You don't have to wait til your junior or senior year to hold a leadership position and make change. I'm a freshman, and I feel that I've helped make an impact through the MEL program, UMOJA, and hopefully the Alpha program next year! Faculty and the head of programs here genuinely care about building a relationship with students here. I'm just so blessed to be in this environment :-)

Yay! I'm an ALPHA LEADER!
