Roller Bounce!
It’s preview weekend! I used to be an ambassador (one of those students that helps with the preview weekends) but I couldn’t do it anymore because of step team conflicts. But I got the opportunity out of no where to house a visiting student by the name of Ashley. I was coming back from the caf when I got a call from Jessica Barron (one of the admission counselors) asking me if I could house a girl last minute. Of course I’m willing to… and I was blessed with Ashley. She was such a fun spirited girl, and her uncle was such a nice man. I brough Ashley to BSA yesterday and felt truly blessed to be with her. She spoke up in the meeting like no other, and was deeply proud haha. I really hope she goes here next year! :-)
But anyways… tonight was amazing! I feel like I say that a lot in my blogs, but I guess that’s just because I have a lot of amazing adventures here at APU lol. Well yeah so tonight we were ministering through step at an event on campus. A lot of the audience was preview students which was pretty cool :-) They got to see us step hehe, and hopefully they were touched by the Holy Spirit through us.
Side note: One of the preview student girls came up to me and told me that this blog helped her make her decision to come here, and that she also wants to try out for the step team :-), it really touched my heart :-) Made me feel real good and I’m so glad she will come here next year. I absolutely love APU and can’t imagine myself anywhere else. And as the year is winding down, I hope that you are seriously considering APU, trust me you’ll love it!
But yeah back to what happened tonight, even though that happened today :-p. So after the ministry some of my UMOJA sisters and I decided to go roller skating! Haha. I haven’t had that much fun in a loooooong time! When went to this place called Skate Depot in Cerritos. We had an absolute blast.
I felt like a loser though because I couldn’t skate with the 4-wheelers, I had to skate with the inline skates. Everyone in the skating rink besides Angela and I had the inlines on lol. Definitely wasn’t the “cool” thing to do, but hey I actually wanted to skate and not die, and especially not fall on my butt in front of everyone in there lol. These people were super good, skating backwards, doing tricks, skating on one foot, even doing the splits while skating! It was like a scene from the movie ATL or Roller Bounce! I loved it.
So afterwards we decided to go to BJ’s Restaurant since it’s right there. This was probably the highlight of the night lol. So we sit down and the manager comes up to our table since we are all matching and asks us where we are from. So we tell him about UMOJA and the ministry that we do: encouraging youth to go to college, and ministering the Word of God, and Melody asks half-jokingly and half-serious if what we are doing deserves a free pazookie :-p and well yeah it worked! He gave us the biggest pazookie I’ve ever seen in my life! For FREE!
Lol So yeah BJ’s started off real good, but it gets better! So we are sitting down, and let me tell you my UMOJA sisters are crazy fun, and we see this other table with a group of guys. So I have some of my sisters, who are to remain anonymous :-p, checking them out. And I mean checking them out hard! Lol. By the time we finish our pizza and get our pazookie one of my friends is really digging some guy at the table. So we decide to cut a piece of the pazookie out in the shape of a heart and send it to their table. Long story short the two talk, and well who knows if they will meet up again :-p
Afterwards in the parking lot we started dancing a lil' bit lol ya know just crazy like that :-p Spontaneous like that!
I pretty much had an amazing night with my girls! I absolutely love my sisters, and am extremely blessed to have them in my life! :-)
